Might Philly Water Initiative Inspire Other Cities?

When one thinks of Philadelphia - the go-green-water-footprint, save Mother Earth movement might not exactly pop readily to mind. But in this case, the grand old city might actually begin to earn top ranking in the next few years for it's innovative plan to re-route storm water. Newly landscaped curb extensions catch rain water, where it infiltrates into soil instead of entering storm sewers. It's all part of the Philly's Green City Clean Waters Program, which emerged from an agreement between the city and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). So far, the city has completed 35 green street blocks, and by the end of the year expects to have boosted that total to 215.
