Las Vegas Living - Such a Good Deal?

The star studded movie, Ocean's 11 and it's depicted Vegas-style living does ooze a certain kind of appeal, as it represents a variety of lifestyle ideas that stretch beyond the boundaries of conservative living. Souls can live the way they want to, or above ground so to speak - without harsh judgement by others. Unfortunately, there are secrets that the ground holds that may not be as appealing. For instance, radioactive groundwater is seeping it's way past nuclear test site boundaries in Nevada. Tainted water emanates from Pahute Mesa where devices for nuclear tests were detonated. The Benham nuclear test of '68 alone produced a yield equivalent to detonating 1.15 megatons of TNT.  That's larger than the yields from the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  The Dept. of Energy, conducting recent surveys, has discovered that water from a recently completed upstream well, near the cavity of Benham has found tritium levels 3,000 times above the safe drinking water limit. That's all the more reason to take precautionary measures with one's drinking supplies.

Water Availability and Wealth - No Surprise

Corps that owned or operated water systems were bringing on over 200 billion a year and yet they were serving only 7% of the population, according to the New York Times. That was in 2002. Access to piped water in the household averages about 85% for the wealthiest 20% of the population, compared with 25% for the poorest 20%. That was determined in 2006 by the United Nations Human Development Report. As of 2010, a later report from the same agency stated “If you live in a slum in Manila, you pay more for your water than people living in London." With such wild shifts taking place in our world's economic system, perhaps the smartest thing for individuals to do is to revisit the basics of life: water, food and shelter.

Weed Killer Chemicals Infiltrate Drinking Systems

We humans are not out of the weeds yet, when it comes to figuring out that we are the sole culprits in Earth's entire contamination cycle. Again, another example of our separatist mindset parlays into the Atrazine Settlement for Public Water Systems in Illinois. A federal judge granted preliminary approval for a national class action suit that may ultimately pave the way for cleaner water systems across the country. Everything we create in the future must be Earth friendly, or we'll always end up paying a price. Aquaverve systems safeguard your water.

Water Stabilizes Through Extreme Heat Change

Most of us don't recognize there's even a problem until our bodies have already reached a significant level of stress, when extreme fluctions of heat in the spring and summer seasons occurs. Unexpected heat stroke can come on rather fast and it can actually shock the brain, damage organs, and even cause death. A significant factor leading up to heat stroke is dehydration, where all cells begin to starve as body fluids cannot flow normally. Those involved in sports or jobs where physical labor is a major factor are particularily susceptible and even athletes who believe they are in top condition can succumb, if they do not hydrate properly. Those who take care to maintain a healthy level of hydration daily can offset the severe effects of stress the organs take on when temperature fluctions do occur.

More Recycling Diversity Needed In Fracking Issue

The idea to recycle the water that's laden with chemical compounds from fracking is a bit more complicated than it first seems to appear. Contaminated water produced by the oil and gas industry was estimated to be in the neighborhood of nine billion litres back in 2007. What could that measure today, five years later? The Energy Information Administration estimates that the fracking practice has grown 48 percent since then. Since a diversity of chemical contaminants comes from varying oil and gas companies, recycling measures have become more complicated. Read more about it here. Meanwhile, stay healthy with Aquaverve.

Ohio Legislation To Ban Doctor Health Reporting

There is a new energy bill that is set to institute even more measures to ban public access to the chemical compounds used in fracking.  This new proposal moving through the Ohio House would inhibit doctors from sharing the information they receive with the public. Similar limits of medical professionals became law in Pennsylvania and other drilling states. Increased earthquakes, contamination of water supplies and negative effects on climate change are just the tip of the iceberg. Tony Ingraffia from Cornell University explains the facts on youtube.

Changing Tactics

Amidst the 'facebook-gone-public' hype and a recent article we hit upon about blogging, (re-named slogging) because no one is reading anything anyone laboriously puts out anymore; we thought long and hard about how we could serve our customers while maintaining our blog. So we're changing tactics and will be posting very brief  and more environmentally meaningful info, which may actually be of value to those floating about in cyberworld. We'll post interesting articles we find related to water conservation, fracking safeguards, water safety and water footprints, etc. We may douse the posts with Aquaverve style humor on occasion.

Does Water Keep Humans Swimming In Circles?

When one pictures Disney, Florida theme parks generally come to mind. But behind a sea of cartoons and major motion pictures, Disney researchers have quietly doing what they do all along. Recently, they've been crafting new ways to examine the age old idea that water is intrinsically tied to all aspects of our existence. Take for instance the Touche' - a new technology that enables any object, including water, to recognize human gestures via an interpretation of electrical signals. According to researchers, depending on electrical pressure applied, a doorknob can now detect whether it is being pinched, grasped, tapped or thrown across a room too, we gather. Apparently, water also has the ability to detect variable electrical signals.  Sharks have always known this of course, (JAWS I, II & III) but humans always seem to think that they're the first to discover everything. Currently, scientists are seeking useful applications so that ultimately, mass consumer use will undoubtedly bring in even higher revenue for the big D. Perhaps it's just a matter of time before all of us can multi-task while taking a bath, just by tiddling the water this way and that. Until that day comes, Aquaverve water coolers shall remain 'simply' efficient and will continue to offer high quality water to home owners all across America. With an Aquaverve water cooler, the water instantly hits the cup... ironically...with just the flick of a finger.

Is Bottling Coconut Water Coconuts?

Typically, when the more common folk of the planet begin to think about improving their health with new habits, they need only flip on the TV or peruse a grocery store magazine rack to view the countless healthy bodied-ones touting the latest gimmicks of the health industry. A little too often in life, we are egged on by the media to follow the habits of those who are wealthy enough to hire personal trainers, plastic surgeons and private nutritionists. The question is - how smart are the celebrities we attempt to imitate and do they really care about the planet after all? Coconut water is the latest rage and many A-listers have joined the bandwagon of sucking bottles of it. The underlying question with witnesssing this 'hottie' new practice rises once again. How is harvesting a foreign island plant, watering it down, bottling it and shipping it to the United States economical and eco friendly?

Perhaps the idea of bottling coconut water is just that - coconuts. Perhaps the bottled
water industry should consider growing more green algae in local communities and marketing that. With a little plant green flowing through our veins, we all might start to think a little more clearly when it comes to being more planet friendly. Aquaverve, the ever steady and sensible water cooler company surfaces to offer yet again, affordable, clean and healthy ways to drink the water we have on hand...with a twist to boot. Aquaverve's commercial grade coolers come in trend-setting, designer colors and styles so that even common people can be hip, hot and cool, locally!

The Case Of The Spiny Water Flea

Is there such a thing as a spiny water flea? And if so, is it as bothersome as a household flea is to a cat or dog? The spiny water flea some researchers have warned is indeed a destructive and invasive threat to Lake Champlain, as much as the common flea is to Fido or Fifi. Spiny fleas dine on small zooplankton, which happens to be 'bigger fish' food - hence, an invasion can be an environmental problem that spreads out on many levels. They can be transported in bilge water, bait buckets, anchor ropes, and fishing nets, which means that if not treated - a small infiltration can turn into a nasty invasion. Discovered in 1984 in Lake Huron, they spread to every great lake by 1987, to the point that they are now considered a permanent member of the Great Lakes eco system. As it is thought that freighters initially transported them by pumping water from their hold areas, now even small boats who dump water can help offset an invasion. Where there was once worry about chlorine, flouride and other such chemicals in our drinking water, now there's one more critter to be watchful of. Therefore a water cooler with a great filtration system might be a good idea to hatch right about now!
